BEVAC

The BEVAC hepatitis B vaccine is used to prevent hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is essential for protecting against liver disease and liver cancer associated with HBV.

How It Works

BEVAC contains inactivated hepatitis B surface antigen, which stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against the virus.

Administration

• Typically given as a series of three injections over six months.Schedule in Infants starts at 0 month(birth) as 0,1,6 or in combination with pentavalent or hexavalent vaccines combo as 0,6,10,14 weeks. Booster may be required at 10 yrs or Adolesence.
• Administered intramuscularly, usually in the upper arm(>2 yrs) or Anterolateral thigh(<2 yrs).

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Pain at the injection site
• Fever
• Fatigue
• Headache

Severe reactions are rare.

Pregnancy and Lactation

• Pregnancy: Generally considered safe, but discuss with a healthcare provider.
• Lactation: Safe for nursing mothers.

Minimum Age Group

• Minimum Age: Can be given from birth as part of the routine immunization schedule.

Contraindications

• Allergic Reactions: Not for those with a severe allergy to any vaccine component
