Typbar TCV is a Typhoid Vi Conjugate vaccine used to protect against typhoid fever, caused by Salmonella Typhi bacteria. This vaccine is particularly important for individuals traveling to or living in areas where typhoid fever is common. The vaccine contains Vi capsular polysaccharide of Salmonella Conjugated to Tetanus Toxoid carrier protein. It is WHO and IAP Prequalified vaccine.Conjugated to TT protein antigen
How It Works
Typbar TCV contains inactivated components of the Salmonella Typhi bacteria, which stimulate the immune system to develop protection against the disease without causing illness. It does not offer protection against infection caused by salmonella para typhi or non typhoid salmonellas.Protection is not 100%. Protection starts in 2-3 weeks post vaccination.Serological Protection is T cell dependent. Plain Vi Polysaccharide (Non Conjugated Typhoid vaccines don’t elicit T cell response.
